What to expect

I’ll be sharing personal, informative and uplifting stories of my healing from autoimmune disease and trauma, which caused many health issues for me in recent years. There will also be natural remedies, product reviews and recommendations and tips to lead a natural lifestyle that is deeply connected to our wonderful planet.

My ethos is that the body can, and will, heal itself if we have the right mindset, environment and lifestyle. I’ve made radical changes to my life since 2020 and I want to share them with as many people as possible.

Here’s how I began mine …

An extreme set of circumstances and ill health, including Crohn’s Disease, high blood pressure, Reynaud’s Disease, hormonal migraines and getting sick with anything that was going around, set me on a journey of discovery. This journey was, and still is, one that amazes me and inspires me every day. At the core of it all is a return to a natural way of living without the slew of chemicals, medications, toxins and stressors that overpower our western lifestyles.

So, for the last few years, I’ve devoured health, happiness and natural living knowledge like I would have once inhaled my favourite slice of chocolate cake. I’ve consumed book after book, podcast after podcast and spent hundreds of hours investigating research papers online and making copious notes and connections. I haven’t learnt so much since my time at university – but this is different. This is life-changing stuff and that is why I had to share it.

I started documenting my health findings really as a way to pass my knowledge on to my two daughters. Since the tragic death of their dad to suicide in 2020, I had this niggling worry, ‘what if something happens to me?’ and they’re left all alone in this crazy world.

Journalling my life experiences and learnings for them became a way for me to deal with these feelings of dread and I decided to compile them into a book dedicated to Ruby and Lily. My idea is that if I have a book to leave them with then they’ll always have a piece of me. They’ll be able to hear my voice in the words and they’ll hopefully benefit from the advice I share.

Initially, the book was just for my girls, but then friends and loved ones started to say ‘you should tell people about this!’ after I’d given them bits and pieces of advice or shared tips. So I thought, why not.

They say everyone has one good book in them, and as a professional writer (for businesses and their marketing), I always wanted to write a book but never had the inspiration. Thinking about it, it was a bit of an unfulfilled ambition but there’s no point forcing a book out just for the sake of it.

This blog contains excerpts, musings and ideas from the book (still very much a work in progress) that I hope people will benefit from and find interesting.

I’m a great believer in ‘everything happens for a reason’. Not that I think some being or force is controlling my destiny, more that if you can learn from and rise above your challenges, then you can turn them into your strengths. Everything that has happened to me has shaped who I am and where I am now. Matthew McConaughey puts it beautifully in his inspirational book ‘Greenlights’:

“The problems we face today eventually turn into blessings in the rearview mirror of life. In time, yesterday’s red light leads us to a greenlight. All destruction eventually leads to construction, all death eventually leads to birth, all pain eventually leads to pleasure. In this life or the next, what goes down will come up. It’s a matter of how we see the challenge in front of us and how we engage with it. Persist, pivot, or concede. It’s up to us, our choice every time.”

So thank you universe for everything that has come my way, even the loss, pain and grief has lessons for us. I hope that in living my authentic life and sharing my experience and tips for natural living I can give something back. If just one person makes one positive change in their life from reading my words, then I will have succeeded x
